The second primary source of Islam is the Hadith. The great Muhaddithun dedicated their lives to preserving it.
Imam al-Bukhari (RA) compiled Sahih al-Bukhari after rigorously verifying over a hundred thousand narrations. Before recording each Hadith, he would perform ablution and offer two units of prayer.
It is through their tireless effort that we today possess an authentic treasury of Hadith, a guide for the Ummah until the Day of Judgement.
